Drunk Elephant - "House of Drunk

MEPTIK uses CueServer 2 Mini to give skincare brand, Drunk Elephant, a “lighting technician-free” pop-up shop.

MEPTIK designed and fabricated multiple pieces ranging from interactive multi-touch LED screens to AV infrastructures - such as LED lighting and multi-channel sound, along with touch-screen kiosks and a video-recording booth.

Interactive: How was CueServer used in this project?

Nick Rivero: We used CueServer as a single point of control, allowing multiple pieces of highly-technical equipment to be controlled with ease. We have interactive LED screens with media servers driving them, alongside DMX lighting, and even equipment such as Philips Hue LED bulbs, and Sonos Speakers. When installing a semi-permanent store in SoHo, NYC, we wanted a simplistic way that the client - without the presence of any technician - could quickly change the rooms scenes. Whether it was open during the day for retail use, or throwing a party at night, there needed to be a simplistic way to press one button, and everything is engaged exactly as it needed. Using a CueServer 2 Mini alongside 2x Wallstations, we were able to do just that. Upon pressing one of 12 buttons, we were able to ensure a large 14'x10' 2mm interactive-LED screen was on and running, while also setting it's brightness levels - with it being brighter during the day and dimmer at night, we enable or disable secondary LED screens, control a slew of DMX controlled lighting and LED signs, and through the integration with open-source platform NodeRed running on dual Raspberry Pi 3's, we could easily convert UDP commands from CueServer into control of PhilipsHue LED bulbs and even Sonos One speakers.

Interactive: How would you describe your experience with CueServer?

Nick Rivero: It's been great! It did exactly what we needed, and even more. We've been able to program Wallstations with ease, while also having the added bonus of things as simple as a web-based representation of the Wallstation.
